About the Show
Beckett @ The New Theatre is an exciting montage of Samuel Beckett’s late plays, Footfalls and Not I, presented by Gaitkrash Theatre Company. Described as ‘Specialists in Sorcery’ by the Irish Times, Gaitkrash Theatre Company brings these powerful short plays to life, wrapped in an experimental soundscape.
Plot Highlights
Footfalls: Performed by Bernadette Cronin and Máirín Prendergast, this play is executed in extreme slow tempo, exploring Beckett’s core theme of the self-enclosed self.
Not I: Performed by Regina Crowley, this play is delivered in extreme fast tempo, creating a poignant recreation of a girl who had never really been born, isolated and encapsulated within herself.

Critical Acclaim
Mary McCarthy, Crawford Art Gallery: "Extraordinary production - the context created a resonant and intimate setting - superb acting and pacing."
Laurie Uprichard, Firkin Crane: "Seeing those Beckett excerpts in a claustrophobic space with such powerful performers created not just an intimate but a powerfully immediate experience."
