Check, check. One, two. One, two. We’re back after a month with yet another hot audio message. And what a month it has been. It’s been a month of big comebacks and big announcements, at least in the indie world. We’ve collected them for you in case you have missed them. Indie giants, ARCADE FIRE delivered a melancholia tinted, surprisingly pop tune. “Everything Now” shares the title with their new record, which drops 28th of July.
LIAM GALLAGHER, OASIS’ ex-vocalist, brings back the 90’s with his first solo single. “Wall of Glass” arrogantly aims for the same greatness as his legendary band and it doesn’t miss by too far. Another British band, RADIOHEAD, dug deep into their vault and brought “I Promise”, a lost gem from OK Computer era. The band celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of their most acclaimed work (debatable) with a remastered reissue of the LP.
ROGER WATERS, a man behind one of the biggest rock bands, also teamed up with long time Radiohead producer for his latest solo effort. PINK FLOYD’s fans will be very pleased with the result of this collaboration. If you are craving some pastoral folk and vocal harmonies, FLEET FOXES are preparing to drop their new album this week (June 16th). One of trip-hop’s founding fathers, TRICKY, has announced his return with “The Only Way”, a dark and beautiful ballad, which resonates some of his best work. To counter this nostalgia feel that is emerging as a theme on this months selection, we’ve got “Ti Amo”, a summery, saccharine, Italian inspired record by indie pop Frenchmen, PHOENIX. Finally, a very timely and unexpected comeback from THE SCISSOR SISTERS. Their new single is a perfect remedy this melancholia in the middle of June and drops just in time for Pride. Talk about perfect timing.
In the Polish department we got a major comeback, too. NATALIA KUKULSKA, a child star turned 90’s pop sensation turned alternative dance diva, dropped the first single entitled “Kobieta” (“A Woman”), a song that celebrates the strong females in the times of uncertain politics. Make sure to check out the stunning video, which will please all the fashion oriented and music fans alike. As usual, there’s much more music selected for your to enjoyment. Make sure to go beyond the playlist by following the artists and checking out their other stuff.
The musical forecast for this summer looks very promising, so bring it on!
