“Kwiecień-plecień, bo przeplata trochę zimy, trochę lata” goes a Polish nursery rhyme (and a quite the tongue twister, too) about the month of April, which interweaves a little bit of winter with little bit of summer. In other words, April is a weather mixtape. And here’s our April mixtape! (this almost rhymes, too. ALMOST). Easter is past us spring making a shy appearance every couple of days, time goes by and music pours like the rain during April showers. Last couple of weeks brought some great albums that I’d highly recommend checking out: GOLDFRAPP’s “Silver Eye”, JAMIROQUAI’s „Automaton”, FUTURE ISLAND’ “The Far Field”, FATHER JOHN MISTY’s “Pure Comedy”, ARCA’s seftitled debut, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN’s “Damage and Joy”, MASTODON’s “Emperor Of Sand” among others.
There’s also an exiting crop of upcoming albums coming our way in the near future. Gossip’s singer, Beth Ditto; synth wizard Com Truise; Damon Albarn’s animated band, Gorillaz; Canadian singer songwriter, Feist and hiphop wizkid, Kendrick Lamar, will all deliver their next LPs this month. No boring times ahead, that’s for sure.
The Polish section, this time sandwiched in the middle of our selection, is a combo of the freshest talent on the scene (BLUSZCZ, TRANSSEXDISCO, SUUMOO, BOVSKA) with some familiar names (HEY, NATALIA PRZYBYSZ, NOVIKA, BRODKA). With all that goodies it certainly feels like spring.
