Travellers Together Preventing Suicide is an annual campaign organised on September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day. Now in it's 4th year, the campaign's aim is to create national awareness about the impact of suicide within the Traveller community, to promote and support Traveller organisations dealing with the issue and create solidarity for those bereaved by suicide.
Following on from the theme of 2021, this years event will use the power of the arts to promote suicide prevention in the Traveller community. Showcasing their talents will be a wide ranging collection of musicians, singers, poets, dancers and visual artists coming together from the Traveller community across Ireland.
On the day there will be 3 events taking place on the campus of Belvedere College, Dublin 1;
Spoken Word & Panel Discussion 15:00 to 16:30
Art Exhibition 17:00 to 17:45
Concert 18:00 to 20:30
All monies raised will go to the charitable organisation, National Traveller Mental Health Network (NTMHN). The N.T.M.H.N is a collective of Travellers and Traveller Organisations across Ireland whose goal is to develop a collective space that is Traveller led, where local, regional and national Traveller mental health issues are highlighted, discussed and addressed. It is a space where solutions are explored with a view to being included in culturally appropriate policy on Traveller mental health
The issues being promoted and discussed may prove triggering for some audience members. There will be trained staff in attendance should anyone need emotional support.
